here is a sweet little baby hat made from super soft alpaca yarn with a simple roll brim. i threaded the wool felt blossoms with the icord and knotted it at the top for the center. the little felt leaves are just tied on a cord underneath and can move around. too cute. here's the view from the top.
all right so i have managed to make one thing lately. maybe two.
i really like this necklace. silk and yarn and beads oh my. lots of yummy texture and a little flying elephant compliments of green girl studios. check them out, nice work.
got out the anvil and stamps to make these pretty little sterling cuff bracelets with little love messages. i use a little pumice to antique them and then shape them around my homemade mandrel, that is... a sturdy tree branch. there is still one left, you can find it in my etsy shop along with some earrings and other new treasures....
today is my man's birthday. and, the beret i knit my boyfriend was, happily, a bit oversized which works because he has big hair. the colors couldn't be more beautiful in delicious greens and blues and violets and browns. noro makes such lovely palettes...and i am delighted in the shaping of the hat with a little tweaking of the pattern here and there to suit my left of center needs. i did run into a strange spot in turning the work but it worked out just fine. better than fine. it is fabulous.

finally...this is going out to regina who has waited ever so patiently for me to send her this darling little pincushion...now that the holiday madness is over and the new year has begun- i hope she will get to use it and enjoy sewing up some little pretties with it. just when you think this is sweet, take a look at what knitting iris has gathered here on her wonder-full knitting blog.
here is a photo of my daughter wet felting a wool ball. these are perfect for babies first toys as they can't hurt them when they throw them up and they hit them on the head! and the are truly beautiful...
i also like to make them out of wool felt pieces and stitch them up the sides...these are really pretty too and equally as safe and soft. sometimes i put a little jingle bell inside too. the kids love them to this day because they actually can sorta play ball in the house with these... i said sorta...
i am soooooo excited about these....felted soaps. a combination of two of my favorite things: handmade soap and wool felt! not only are they beautiful in and of themselves, grouped together in a bowl (or windowsill) they are stunning! AND they are just perfect to stash in a closet or drawer to freshen things up or just to use in the bath...
i am amazed at the number of beautiful things ther are to make in this lifetime. and i have barely scratched the surface.

these little mittens are made from needlefelting wool into a teeny tiny mitten cookie cutter. this is a great project for the kids, especially for making ornaments or garland which is what we have planned for these little mittens. we will be adding a little sparkle too, in the way of fiber and beads...aren't they sweet???

cut out the pattern for all my baby bodies from the cotton velour...got it at weir dolls. they have lots of great waldorf dollmaking supplies and i find them to be more efficient than say magic cabin.... although magic cabin is good for their kits, for the seasoned dollmaker, weir is better for materials.
anyhoo, the colors are all so sweet and i have some little felt bonnets and knit hats ready to go...just waiting on some more wool stuffing to finish them up. and of course i need to finish embroidering the little faces.
i really like making these little snuggle babies...
valentine came over the night i showed the girls from work how to make soap...they left fairly early but there was still wine to drink so my dear friend gave me a lesson in wet-felting. just what i needed, another addictive medium. at saff i had bought some really beautiful wool remnant bags to create some felted table runners. the vision was to make landscapes and these bags were so visually inspiring; each had an assortment of colors and textures and fibers from many animals in one. much more exciting than the usual 2oz ball of carded wool...
so she gave me a crash course in the process. not much different than the "knit it first then felt it in the washer" concept...and much quicker than it and needlefelting. it went something like this....i fashioned a flower for my mil (red hatter) to make a pin for the lapel of her coat. ( i'll show you when it's finished....)
